Tiki Boat Dolphin Tour in Destin, FL

What is a Tiki Boat Dolphin Tour?

Picture a thatched-roof tiki bar, except the bar is a boat and the boat is cruising past Crab Island while a pod of bottlenose dolphins surfs the wake. That is the Tipsy Tiki: a shaded tiki-style pontoon cruise that runs daytime dolphin tours through Destin’s emerald-green water. It is calmer than a party-pontoon, prettier than a standard tour boat, and the photos absolutely do their job.

If you have been hunting tiki boat tours in Destin, the Tipsy Tiki is the one. It is also one of the only tiki boat dolphin tour formats on the Emerald Coast.

Why the Tipsy Tiki Tops Destin Tiki Boat Tours

  • Full-shade tiki canopy: The thatched tiki roof keeps the boat 15-plus degrees cooler than an open pontoon. Sun-sensitive guests, babies, and people who burn at the suggestion of sun β€” this is the cruise.
  • Up to 28 guests: Roomy enough for a bachelorette group or a multi-family trip. Tight enough that you actually hear the captain narrate the dolphin sightings.
  • Daytime dolphin route: Our daytime tiki dolphin tour runs 1.5 hours through Choctawhatchee Bay along the routes pods are most active during the day.
  • Onboard restroom: Real bathroom. Not a bucket. Bring this up if your group has someone hesitating.
  • Lily pad and water floats: Included for the swim stops β€” anchor at Crab Island or a calm cove and float.
  • Licensed captain & crew: Licensed captain, CPR-trained crew, bottled water, life vests, and a Spanish translator on staff.

What’s Included on the Tipsy Tiki Dolphin Tour

  • 1.5-hour daytime dolphin tour on the shaded Tipsy Tiki pontoon (up to 28 guests)
  • Licensed captain and CPR-trained crew
  • Onboard restroom
  • Bottled water
  • Life vests for every guest (kids included)
  • Shared lily pad and water floats for the anchored swim stop
  • Beer and wine available for purchase onboard (guests 21+)

How the Tour Works

Check In at 530 Harbor Blvd

Plan to arrive 45 minutes before departure at 530 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541 β€” that buffer is for parking, waivers, and the in-person safety briefing. Florida statute 327.54 requires our licensed crew to deliver the briefing in English (we have a Spanish translator on staff), so do not be surprised when we ask you to listen up before stepping aboard.

Cruise the Bay

Your captain pulls out of Destin Harbor and runs the tiki through Choctawhatchee Bay, narrating local landmarks, dolphin behavior, and where the pods have been active that week. The thatched roof keeps everyone shaded; the open sides keep the breeze moving.

Spot the Dolphins

Daytime is when pods are out hunting and traveling, especially around the tidal lines near East Pass and along the edges of Crab Island. The tiki idles when a pod surfaces nearby β€” federal law protects wild dolphins from being touched or chased, so we let them come to us. They usually do.

Anchor and Float

If the schedule allows, we anchor for a swim stop with the lily pad and water floats. Bring a swimsuit β€” this is the part of the tour your kids will not stop talking about. – We do not do stop and let people off on the dolphin tour

Tiki Boat Dolphin Tour vs. Other Destin Cruises

If you have been comparing a tiki boat tour against a regular pontoon, a party barge, or a sunset cruise, the Tipsy Tiki sits in a specific niche: shaded, comfortable, family-friendly, and photogenic. It is not a bar boat. It is not a speed boat. It is the cruise you book when you want the day to be easy β€” and when you want the photos.

Compared to a Crab Island Cruise on the Crab Island Runner, the Tipsy Tiki is more visual (the tiki roof) and quieter on alcohol policy. Compared to a private charter, it is the most affordable way for individuals or couples to get the tiki experience without renting the whole boat.

Rules to Know Before You Board

Jet Ski Dolphin Tour
It was probably the best money that I have ever spent in Destin. Staff was awesome from check in til completion of tour. Brayden was our guide and we saw lots and lots of dolphins in several different places. If you really wanted to, you could almost pet the Dolphins. They were everywhere!
