During this month, there are more locals than tourists as many people are back in school. By going to Crab Island during this time, you are going to be able to see the sandbar better. Renting a pontoon boat is an activity to try out during the month of September. A pontoon boat lets you explore the area, and you can see regions of Destin by water. Labor Day Weekend Fireworks
On the weekend of Labor Day, HarborWalk Village hosts a Labor Day Weekend Celebration. HarborWalk Village is known for hosting many events all year round. The Labor Day weekend event is a fun time for the whole weekend. It is full of live music, with bands going onto the main stage to get the crowd hyped up. The genre of music is for all ages to sing and dance to. The live music is from Alex Smith, who will be performing from 6 pm to 9 pm. Following the concert, there will be the moment people are waiting for, which is the fireworks show. The day will make you feel like it is either New Year’s Eve or the 4th of July! After the fireworks, there is going to be a fire spinning performance featuring Autumn Lyfe. This is a great event to go to right as September is starting. All ages will enjoy the celebration, seeing many shows in one. If you are not staying close to the HarborWalk Village, the parking on-site is only a $20 fee for the whole day. Burgers, Bourbon & Beer Festival
To the people who like burgers, bourbon, and beer, this one is for you. The Burgers, Bourbon & Beer Festival will be hosting its 4th annual festival this September. The festival’s proceeds all go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast. The festival is taking place by the Destin Harbor. There, you will be able to taste many burgers while sipping different kinds of bourbon and beer. You get to see many different restaurants and people that compete to see who has the best burger in the Destin area. There are three tickets available to purchase for entry into the festival. The food only ticket is for anyone who is under 21. It is also for anyone who is only looking to try the food. The ticket costs $40 and includes one wristband that is for unlimited food samples. The next ticket is for general admission. The general admission ticket price is $65. It includes one wristband for unlimited food samples as well as seven tickets for any of the alcohol samples. The last ticket to purchase for entry into the festival is the VIP ticket, which costs $100. What you get with this ticket is one wristband and one lanyard for unlimited food samples and unlimited bourbon and beer samples. You will also get an exclusive early admission into the event. There is also a VIP lounge that has a private bar. You will get a Burgers, Bourbon, and Beer t shirt. Finally, with the VIP ticket, you also get an exclusive small batch of bourbon tastings, which is different from the bourbon samples. Not only are you going to be supporting an extraordinary cause, but you will be trying some really great food.
Destin Seafood Festival
Another September festival is the Destin Seafood Festival. This event takes place the last weekend of September and has many fun activities for everyone to enjoy. The main point of the festival is all the seafood that you can try. There is seafood, music, art, and the community gathering together to host a celebration supporting the Destin Charter Boat Association. One highlight of this festival is that entry is free for all. What you need to have is money to purchase any food or merchandise from vendors. The food during the event is by several local chefs who have restaurants here in Destin. There are VIP tickets available to buy for a VIP experience. Many locals and visitors go to the festival to support the area. It is excellent to bring the whole family with so many different vendors to explore. Many people volunteer for the event to help out since the event gets full. Every year, the festival’s t-shirt is designed by a local artist. There is a vote to determine which design fits best for the festival. The design winners come from one adult and one child.
