Destin History & Fishing Museum
Did you know that Destin has a fishing rodeo? Designed in 1948 to bring people to Destin, the Destin Fishing Rodeo is one of the best fishing tournaments in the country. The fishing rodeo was a genius idea because Destin became a tourist destination and known as the “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” Open to participants of all ages, the rodeo is held in the month of October, after it was moved to help extend Destin’s tourist season into the fall.
You can learn more about the fishing rodeo at the Destin History & Fishing Museum, as well as Destin’s diving history, and the types of fish you can catch in Destin. Another highlight at the museum is a collection of hundreds of fish mounts caught in and around Destin.
A Meal with A View
Hungry yet? Destin boasts many waterfront restaurants, as any beach town would, and best of all, there are a few restaurants with boat docks, where you can park your pontoon boat rental. We recommend trying The Edge Seafood Restaurant or Boshamps, as those are our personal favorites.
